Funny Cars return to Idaho for 54th annual NAPA Ignitor, May 16–18

The longest-running major drag racing event in the Northwest roars back to life as the 54th Annual NAPA Ignitor Opener, presented by The Blower Shop, takes over Firebird Raceway from May 16–18. A cornerstone of Idaho motorsports since 1971, the Ignitor has been thrilling fans across the Treasure Valley for more than five decades.

The event marks the second stop on the 2025 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series calendar, headlined by 250-mph AA/Funny Cars in the Stinker Stores Nitro Knockout. Defending champion Nathan Sitko, who set the quickest Funny Car pass in Heritage Series history last year with a 5.51-second run, will return to defend his title against a stellar field of nitro cars!

Adding even more action to the weekend, the Ignitor will also kick off the Northwest Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, showcasing a great field of entries from across the West.

Funny Car qualifying begins Friday, May 16, at 3:00 p.m., with additional rounds at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Nitro finals fire off at high noon on Sunday, May 18.

Sunday also marks Military Appreciation Day, with free admission for all veterans and active-duty personnel. Plus, kids 15 and under get in free all weekend long.
