Fletch Racing and driver Jory Elliott are set to debut their 2018 Cobra Jet Mustang at the upcoming American Rebel Light Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. Nearly a year in the making, the new car will mark the beginning of an ambitious 18 race NHRA schedule of national and divisional events, which they hope will result in a strong points finish in 2025.

The team’s new Cobra Jet Mustang was built by Watson Engineering in Detroit, and later assembled, including engine, by True Street Motorsports in McKinney, Texas. The car will race in the competitive Factory Super Stock B (FSS/B) class.

Topped with a 3.0 liter Whipple supercharger, the 317-cid Coyote engine produces more than 1,400 horsepower and the entire vehicle is wired into the newest Holley EFI system, allowing the team the ultimate control over data collection and tuning decisions.

“The car tested really well at World Wide Technology Raceway last weekend, with runs in the low 8 second range at nearly 170 miles per hour,” said driver Elliott. “We’re incredibly optimistic about tapping into its full potential as we massage the chassis and tune up some more throughout the season.”

Driving Fletch Racing’s 2012 Cobra Jet Stock entry, Elliott, a second- generation drag-racer, recently won the FSS/A class championship at the Baby Gators, NHRA Southeast Division Lucas Oil Series events at Gainesville Raceway, last February.

Elliott campaigned that car during the second half of the 2024 race season, and compiled a 20-11 record in elimination rounds.

“I’m truly blessed to have had the opportunity to drive for Fletch Racing the past nine months and if this new car continues to run as good on the track as it looks off of it, we’re going to have a ton more fun and success in 2025”, said Elliott.

The Texas-based Fletch Racing Team is owned by Bill and Rachelle Fletcher, and currently features two NHRA Super Stock cars, two Modified class entries, and a Junior Dragster team. The team also includes Hall of Fame driver and team owner “Bogus” Bob Elliott, as crew chief. Bob is best known as the driver and owner of the Northern Force Funny Cars in the 1980’s and 90’s, where he qualified for the nitro Funny Car field at the Indy and Columbus events.
